The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland ? Southern Region is a
major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential,
educational and day services for people with intellectual
disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork
and Kerry area.

Initially assigned to Residential Services, Cork
Permanent Full?time post (**Apply on the website** hours per week -
To include some evening and weekend work in addition to taking part in
an out of hours rota for emergency cover.

JOB PURPOSE

To manage the assigned Residential Services as allocate in accordance
with all relevant legislation and Brothers of Charity policies and
procedures, ensuring the service meets all the Health Information &
Quality Authority (HIQA) minimum Standards and requirements.

Ensure that the services provided help fulfil the Brothers of Charity
vision for Residential supports which promote the independence of
residents

WORKING CONTEXT

Residential supports are a very important part of the person?s life.
Some of the people will have substantial personal care needs and some
will have behaviour which is challenging. The manager is required to
ensure that all relevant supports are identified and in place to
support the person and staff in this regard.

In addition to emergency cover, it is expected that the manager will
work directly with the residents alongside the team from time to time
to get a full insight into the operation of the service. Equally it is
important for the post holder to make periodic out of hours visits as
appropriate in order to ensure that services are being delivered to
the highest professional standards and in accordance with best
practice.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE ETC.

Each candidate for the appointment must

* Possess a relevant level 8 or higher health related qualification
on the QQI framework in nursing/social care or health science
* Possess or be working towards a management qualification
* Maintain current registration with relevant professional body
* Have a minimum of 5 years? experience working in the field of
intellectual disability and ASD
* Have a minimum of 3 years? experience at supervisory/management
level in the area of health or social care
* Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the health act and the **Apply

* Demonstrate knowledge on the HIQA standards and how to ensure a
designated centre is working in line with these standards
* Have experience in developing community based services and
integrating these with main stream services/society
* Have the requisite knowledge, ability (including a high standard
of suitability and of administrative capacity) and experience of the
proper discharge of the duties of the appointment.
* Possess a full clean driving licence which qualifies you to driver
on Irish roads with is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

SUBJECT TO THE AGREED POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THE BROTHERS OF
CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND ? SOUTHERN REGION, THE PERSON APPOINTED
SHALL:

* Be the Registered Manager/ Person in Charge of the assigned
residential services under the Health Act **Apply on the website**

(Children and Adults) with Disabilities) Regulations **Apply on the
website**, Health Act **Apply on the website** (Registration of
Designated Centres for Persons (Children and Adults with Disabilities)
Regulations **Apply on the website** and the National Standards for
Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities and to
manage other support services as may be assigned.
* Promote and foster a team approach including the delegation of
duties to Team Leaders and other staff, ensuring that the diverse
skills and experience of all team members is optimised to enable the
best possible outcomes for both service users and staff team.
* Ensure the service is delivered and developed in line with all
relevant Brothers of Charity policies and procedures, including Health
& Safety and risk assessments.
* Be responsible for ensuring a team approach to formally assess,
monitor and evaluate service user needs at regular intervals through
the process of Person Centred Planning or other such planning or
evaluation method that may be developed in the future.
* Be responsible for maintaining records of all monetary
transactions, in line with the Service User Policy within the Service.
* Ensure a Key Worker is assigned to each service user and their
family/advocate
* Facilitate a warm accepting environment where the physical,
emotional, health, social (including play & leisure), educational,
communication, cultural and spiritual needs of young people can be met
and ensuring that short breaks are a positive experience for the young
people and their carers.
* Line manage staff providing support and supervision ensuring job
satisfaction through professional and personal development.
* Provide sound financial management in line with the contract
requirements and the allocated funding.
* Build relationships with the children and young people ensuring
the highest quality of care and user participation, seeking their
feedback about the service.
* Develop opportunities to seek and implement parents? views about
the service and individual care plans.
* Work collaboratively with other Brothers of Charity Residential
Day Services and Respite Services ensure systems, policies and
procedures are developed and implemented to create efficient and
effective monitoring and management in line with Services
requirements.
* Carry out Child Protection and safeguarding duties in line with
the organisation procedures and regulations under the health Acts and
to work with the Designated Liaison Person for the Service area on all
such matters as appropriate.
* Ensure all statutory notifications to the Health Information and
Quality Authority are made on a timely basis
* Be an active member of the Sectoral Team assisting the Sector
Manager with the development of the Business Plan, Annual Review and
other strategic documents.
* Provide regular monitoring reports for internal and external
audiences.
* Develop training and induction programmes to ensure standards of
care of the highest quality.
* Arrange and attend meetings, as and when required, including
visits to the person?s home or day service review meetings and
supervision/appraisal sessions.
* Develop a positive relationship with each person natural supports
and any other significant others.
* Partake in the operation of an out of hours emergency service
* Undertake other duties, as and when required, so far as they are
compatible with the aims and level of responsibility of the post.
